Nepal floods: UAE rescuers locate another 10 missing people
Fifth aid aircraft arrives with boats, drones and power equipment
KATHMANDU – The UAE Search and Rescue Team has located 10 more people reported missing following devastating floods in Nepal, taking the total number found by the team since the start of its mission to 18.
Search operations are continuing across flood-affected areas in coordination with Nepalese authorities and rescue teams.
The UAE is deploying specialist equipment, drones and advanced mapping technology as it supports Nepal’s humanitarian response.
Search continues
The latest operations have focused on Rasuwa, areas surrounding the Trishuli River and neighbouring locations affected by the floods. UAE rescuers are working alongside Nepalese teams to identify targeted areas and locate people who remain unaccounted for.
The team is using advanced search equipment and drones, supported by aerial surveys and three-dimensional mapping. The technology is helping rescuers assess affected locations, improve access to difficult areas and accelerate searches.
The 10 people located in the latest operation add to the six people previously found by the UAE team, bringing the total number of missing people located during the mission to 18.
New aid arrives
The ongoing field operations coincide with the arrival of the fifth UAE humanitarian aid aircraft in Nepal. The latest shipment contains equipment and supplies intended to support search and rescue operations and strengthen the capabilities of Nepalese rescue teams.
The cargo includes rescue boats, drones, power equipment and devices, along with technical and logistical supplies. The equipment will be handed over to Nepalese search and rescue teams to help them continue operations and reach affected areas.
Hammoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations, said UAE teams were continuing to work alongside Nepalese authorities, with search and rescue missions being conducted according to field priorities and available information.
He said equipment and essential supplies were also being provided to Nepalese teams to enhance their ability to maintain searches and access affected locations.
The latest deployment forms part of the UAE’s wider humanitarian response to the Nepal floods, combining search and rescue operations with technical and logistical support. UAE teams remain active across Rasuwa, the Trishuli River area and surrounding locations as field operations continue.
